It used to just be corporations using media to hype up the most mundane things to the point of ridiculousness. Watch an ad for something you'll never be into and you know what I mean. But now that we're all cowed into accepting 24/7 advertising as part of life, it's apparently every individual person's turn to do THE EXACT SAME THING...
"Look at my new bath mat!!!!!!" (Uh... no? How is this even remotely interesting?)
"I'm having a baby I can't afford, give me lots of approval and money!!!!!" (Just what the world needs, people like THIS reproducing)
"I'm a __________ tech/engineer/maker/whatever!!!!!!!" (You're a desk or counter jockey making minimum wage. Shuddup.)
