Turning in your Keys and ID after termination
I knew it was going to happen. Things weren't going right and they were going to fire me. It came time for my performance review and I had rehearsed the event.
Basically telling me about my errors I started by taking a bunch of keys off of my neck. I turned in my ID. Then I turned in the company credit cards then I had one last key on my personal keychain. With a small effort I removed the key and put it on the table next to the keys I had already turned in. The lady in HR said "we're sorry John"\. I said you aren't as sorry as I am but I should not have said that. I was glad to be gone. Things had gone South with this job and I needed to be leaving.
I said "well theres nothing to do but leave" There had been a long silence but it turned out they wanted me escorted out. I didn't know this until I was nearly to the door. I hated to wait for the ** because I really and truly wanted to be gone asap.
** arrives and when we go to my car he says have a nice day. I said "no young man my day is ruined". It wasn't really. I was off to better places and things.
