Something wrong

I'm 16 years old and I am now officially a sufferer of depression. I have survived two suicide attempts, one when I was 13 years years old and another a few months ago. I have been officially depressed only for a few days, but it's been going on for years, I just didn't say anything because I didn't want people to worry.

My doctor has been talking to the school counsellor (whom I talk to weekly), and the counsellor brought up the point that my mood tends to fluctuate incredibly easily depending on what happens, so my doctor has refrained from prescribing medication. Instead she has referred me to a clinical psychologist to talk to for a few sessions so we can find out if my depression has been caused by an underlying psychological disorder.

That's really what I'm worried about, that I might have some kind of disorder, rather than just having a ** life. I'm worried that I might have something worse, or something that I can't change, or something that makes it harder to get out of this feeling.

    • It's really good you already are willing to talk to someone about it. If you don't know yet most people don't really understand it, they tell you to snap out of it, or just go do something fun. Sometime's it grab's a hold of you, and you may realize it, but can't find a way out. If you can, and are willing, try to talk to a doctor to get on the right MEDS.
You are young and this world needs good young people, more people than you know have the same problem and don't talk to people. Crappy thing's happen to everyone, but if it is some disconnect if your brain, that is something that can be helped, to the point that you no longer feel bad.
Take care, realize more people than you think love you, and want to see you have a great life.

    • Keep trying! Nobody likes a quitter!

    • You're going to be ok! Lots of people feel this way in their teens. Keep your appointments be honest; it will be ok!
