The American Red Cross fired me and I got even
They shouldn't have hired me in the first place. Nothing in my resume said anything about doing the tasks they assigned to me. The inevitable happened and I got fired.
The termination itself was justified but my former manager tried to keep me from receiving unemployment benefits saying I had made racist statements.
My racist statement was calling Black history week African history week. I referred to Black history week as African history week because many of my black co workers dressed in traditional African clothing and were talking a lot about Africa.
I didn't mean anything negative. My statement was blown way out of proportion.
OK while at the state labor board my former employers looked silly. I explained that while the termination was justified not being able to collect unemployment benefits was not. The labor board agreed with me and I collected six months worth of benefits.
My blood type is O negative which is a very desirable much sought after blood type and I never donated blood to the Red Cross again.
I donated to a smaller blood bank called Lifesouth which is affiliated with a childrens organization so many people did continue to get the benefit of my blood donations.
At my new job I convinced my company not to cll the Red Cross for donations but to use Lifesouth instead. They did causing the Red Cross to lose many pints of blood.
